Casio announced on 21 Oct 2013 the release of the G-Shock x Louie Vito GLS-8900LV-2 in conjunction with its 30th Anniversary. G-Shock Brand Ambassador, Winter Olympic Medalist, Winter X Games and U.S. Grand Prix Champion; Louie’s professional snowboard career echoes the elite performance and unwavering commitment of the G-SHOCK brand.
Louie’s collaboration model showcases his preference for color-blocking with blue, black and silver. His signature LV logo is displayed on the watch dial and band and engraved on the case back.
Casio claims this to be the perfect on-mountain watch. The watch is specially equipped with a low temperature-resistant LCD (down to -20°C/-4°F) that resists fade-out, making it a perfect fit for winter sports enthusiasts. The deep indigo blue case and highlights suggest clear “bluebird” winter skies, balanced with a reverse LCD display for enhanced visibility in bright light conditions.
Prioritizing rugged durability and technical performance, the Auto LED Super Illuminator allows the user to activate the backlight with a flick-of-the-wrist, without removing gloves to press the front-mount light button, while the dual 1/100 second stopwatches and countdown timer deliver the tools to clock runs down the mountain.
The 48-city World Time feature makes it easy to follow winter worldwide, and four multi-function alarms means the user will never miss first lift—and more importantly first tracks—however, those who need just a little more rest for those sub-zero, bullet-proof morning conditions will find the snooze function ideal.
